Which of the three? Driver coming out of 2004 Camry SE V6 (225hp, 3351lbs, 20 city/29 highway) owned since new. These seem to be the three that caught her eye. Trade-in if purchase, no trade in if lease. I’ll have another trio for you soon of sedans, she’s pretty vehicularly flexible when it comes to tastes. As long as it has a look and feel that can hold interest for years.

Kinja'd!!!

NX200T F-Sport AWD specced out to $46k (235hp, 4050lbs, 22 city/27 highway).

Kinja'd!!!

Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2L specced to $41k (271hp, 4028lbs, 19 city/26 highway).

Kinja'd!!!

F-Pace 35t Premium specced to $51k (340hp, 4015lbs, probably 17 city/26 highway similar to XJ R-sport AWD).

Dear god that Lexus is sexy in that color.

I know! I love the Blue Mica Lexus is using. Looks great on the RC and GS F too.

Kinja'd!!!

By the way, I’m in love with the orange calipers Lexus uses now. There is an Atomic Silver that I really want to see in person. Oh, did you know you can get the GS-F in that orange? That is crazy different to me.

Kinja'd!!!

Obviously I’m into the GS-F, almost as much as the CTS-V.

These all have quite a lot of torque.

Right?! I’m at a point now where I just assume everything makes peak torque between 1750rpm and 5000rpm. I usually worry more about response and linear progression since everything moves well nowadays.

If she’s looking at a couple very much on-road oriented crossovers like the Jag & Lexus, why go for the Cherokee Trailhawk and not the Limited? Doubtful that she uses the off road features of the Trailhawk, and the Limited will have better on-road manners from its less-aggressive suspension and tires.

1. Jag - sharp looking and probably pretty quick

2. Jeep - trailhawk trim makes it a looker

3. Lexus - nope

Because she likes the name...yeah, really. She also thought she had to have a Cherokee “Sport” and wouldnt listen to reason on it being a trim, not the name of the vehicle. To my surprise she liked the on road ride of the Trailhawk (I hated the tire noise). I honestly think if the Cherokee Overland comes out in time I’ll have her shop the Jeep again. Seriously, I barely pulled her away from buying a Trailhawk or Sport (who cross-shops those?) that day.

Must be a Jeep thing?

If she’s coming from a Camry and expects her next car to be as reliable, then she should probably get the Lexus.

Im finding that non-enthusiasts love the Lexus styling. They are blown away by the lines and I seriously believe if they were placed near an Aventador that they would comment on how it reminds them of their Lexus. I’m fine with all the Japanese brands’ styling directions, however I’m shocked at how well received they are from the motorized salt and pepper grater crowd.

I was surprised by how bad their new headlight design looks in person, it’s truly appalling. The upcoming LC is gorgeous though.

I think it will depend on how long she plans to keep it. With Jag doing 5 years/60,000 mile warranties and free scheduled maintenance, I thought now would be the time to buy since they’re most reliable when brand new (like FCA anything). Plus she is at an age where I think she would want people to see her pull into a Jag Dealership and be pampered while they get her steering wheel fluid flushed or touchscreen unfrozen.

I already asked but even with a lift kit the Miata is still too small of a car according to her.

I most certainly knew you can get a GS-F in orange. I love orange so I always have a running list of what cars are currently available in orange. HAHAHA. They need to put the NX and IS F-Sports available in orange since RC F-Sport is available in orange.

Jag is the best looking and has the most “badge-cred”.

The Lexus, while nice, is absolutely disgusting looking in person and the Jeep is not exactly a ‘luxury’ vehicle. It has a relatively rough suspension and an interior that is... well, it’s still a Chrysler product.

Lexus, I think that's way to much for the Cherokee and am unsure of the Jags long term reliability.

All solid choices, but the Jeep, Jag, and Land Rover all have very iffy reliability.

The Lexus will lease better than anything in that category, and if purchased will have far fewer issues over the life of the vehicle.

It does need premium gas, so that is something to consider. And, while I find the Lexus ‘infotainment’ system easy to use as I teach people how as my full-time job, if one is not familiar with how the Japanese organize things it can be confusing at first. If the Lexus wins, make sure the person buying does take the time for the tutorial they can get, and that they will feel comfortable asking for a review later if needed. Any Lexus dealer should have someone on staff who is there just to teach owners how to use the systems on their car.

I 2nd this. Though the Jeep is pretty cool, especially in Trailhawk trim and the 16 hasn't been nearly as problematic.

Macan or used Cayenne for the WIN in this category. Maybe an Audi QS5.

Another good option that I would possibly consider, if Jaguar/Land Rover doesn’t scare you away too much... the new Disco Sport, a bit more generously sized, but basically the same as a Range Rover Evoque.

Kinja'd!!!

Jeep Cherokee is interesting, but the top end of the mainstream class, and if you want better, Grand Cherokee is better, if you trust FCA on quality after the chrysler bankruptcy.

Lexus may be stable, mechanically, but ugly as sin, even in a gorgeous coat of blue paint. I would rather have a full-boat loaded closeout ‘15 Toyota Venza V6 AWD Limited at a discount than any Lexus. Lighter, and more powerful than the Lexus you posted, and although a bit unassuming, I think they are more handsome with sleeker, lower roof.

Acura RDX/MDX are not listed, not sure if you are considering... BMW X3 or X5... Merc GLK if you like something a bit more rectangular.
